Poem - What is a poem?

Someone asked me,
What is a poem?

I replied, a poem is
a travelling thought,
it exists in forms,
that are diverse a lot,
it is not essentially be written,
not even necessary to be seen,
read the lines below,
and you'll know what I mean.

When drawn with colours,
as a Painting it is known,
if captured using a camera,
as a Photograph it is shown.

If it touches us gently,
we call it Wind,
when played with instruments,
as music it is listened,
accompanied by lyrics,
it becomes a song,
takes the form of prayer,
when sung with heart all along.

It is made up of feelings,
like happiness, grief, hate and love,
and is called a Poem,
if put into words like above!

Photography - Winter Slippers

They are cute and cosy but one thing I don't like about them is, when you put them on, you can't dance properly!

Photography - Today's Sunset

Today the sky looked so beautiful at the sunset. Just thought of sharing it with you all. Though, couldn't get a perfect shot due to low luminosity. Probably, I was late by few minutes. But, I still like it.

Poem - A January afternoon

On a January afternoon,
the Sun is shining high,
resting, relaxing and rejuvenating,
beneath the black shawl I lie.

On pulling the shawl over my face,
I saw something magical taking place,
through the minute pores of the fabric,
sunbeams enter the inner space.

I saw my hand shining,
like million diamonds would sparkle,
and all the stars twinkle together,
as the blue skies darkle.

The covering may be dark,
but the light needs a minute hole,
to enter our mind,
and enlighten the soul.

It has stopped raining, but the raindrops seem to freeze due to low temperature. Its chilly outside!

The bird seems to enjoy the weather.

Art - First Sketching Work(2003)

Hello everyone!!

Hope you all doing fine. Today I am sharing the very first of my sketching work that I practised during my drawing classes at school in 2003. This drawing notebook is quite special to me and is signed by my respected drawing teacher Late Mr. H J S Walia. He used to place an object in front of us and we tried to draw it using pencils for the next whole week. This improved my observation to a large extent and to find minute differences between shades. We all worked enthusiastically to get a "Good" which was rare in that class. Even now when I look at this work, I learn new things.

Art - Experimenting with oil pastels

Hello everyone!!

Hope you all doing fine. After such a long time I worked with oil pastels. Here is my today's work.

It is not so easy to work with oil pastels as their edges are worn out quickly which makes edges in artwork clumsy. However practice helps handling them smoothly and drawing fine lines. The things I like about oil pastels are:
